CTMH Love Birds meets Basic Grey's Max and Whiskers

Do you ever have one of those cards that you REALLY like the way it turned out and want to recreate it using completely different papers, stamp sets, and embellies?  Well I do and I sat down today to re-create it using the SUPER CUTE papers from Max and Whiskers by Basic Grey.

Because I kept the sketch and the placement of the embellies the same as my other card, this card took me NO time at all to put together.  I just LOVE it when that happens!  Without further ado......

As you can tell from the picture, I used Clear Detail Embossing Powder with Versa Mark over the image stamped in Cocoa.  I just like the subtle dimension that using the embossing powder gives the image.  Another thing I did to create dimension was to stamp the birdies on Creme Brulee CS, cut them out and pop dot them to the cage.

Supplies used:
Paper: Basic Grey Max and Whiskers, CTMH Cocoa CS, Colonial White CS and Sunset CS
Stamp Set: CTMH Love Birds
Inks: Cocoa for distressing and stamping, Sunset marker for coloring in.
Embellishments: Lagoon Ribbon and Brads from the Mini Medley, and  Just Blooms Spring Blossom
My card base came from the CTMH 50 Cards and Envelopes for just $14.95 (awesome deal!)

Thanks SO much for stopping by today!!

I hope that this has inspired you to re-create some of YOUR favorite cards from the past!!  Don't forget that if you want to see any of the images up close all you have to do is click on it and it SUPER SIZES it for you for FREE!!  lol

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

I forgot how much I LOVE Basic Grey paper!

Happy Monday All!!!  A few weeks ago I was over at Archiver's checking out all the fun new papers and embellishments that are out right now.  I don't remember the last time I bought anything other than CTMH products to "play" with.  So when I saw these SUPER cute papers from Basic Grey, I just HAD to have them!

I don't know about you all.......BUT sometimes a card will take ME a few days to complete.  You know......choosing the paper......deciding on just the right embellishments........picking out the perfect stamp set that speaks to you and the paper that you choose........THEN finding a sketch to follow.  Once I have all that down, I start playing.  There are times that I cut, then re-cut a different color of CS or a different pattern of paper.....adhere paper then immediately take it off, trying to reposition it and NOT to tear the paper below!  lol  I have had to walk away from a card and go back to it the next day with a fresh outlook........

BUT this card took me NO time at all to create!  That is not saying that I did not have to stamp and color the image 2 times or change out one patterned paper for another........take time to find JUST the right button size and color.  It just took LESS time doing all of that than normal.

The bear is stamped in Cocoa then stamped again in VersaMark and embossed with Clear Detail Embossing Powder.  I stamped him on Watercolor Paper that I purchased from Hobby Lobby a while back.  I then used my Blending Pen and CTMH markers to color him in and found that the blending pen worked a bit better using the watercolor paper versus cardstock.  The cardstock started to break down when I used the blending pen where the watercolor paper is meant for just that.....getting it wet.  Clear as mud??  LOL

Supplies Used: CTMH (unless noted)
Paper: Basic Grey Pyrus 6x6 paper pad, Colonial White CS, Cocoa CS and Watercolor Paper
Stamp Set: Beary Busy
Inks: VersaMark, Cocoa Ink (distressing and stamping) and Autumn Terracotta, Goldrush, Twilight, Garden Green Markers
Embellishments: Cocoa Buttons, White Hemp, Clear Detail Embossing Powder
Tools: Wishes Card Program, Heat Gun

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

I hope that this has inspired you to break out of your paper rut and try something new!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

InStyle Stamps Thankful Thursday Sketch Challenge and a Prize!

Hello All!! It is my turn again to host the InStyle Stamps Thankful Thursday Sketch Challenge. If you have not participated in this before, you should give it a try! All you need to do is follow this sketch, create a card or paper project using the words Thank You, Thanks, Thankful or any variation of the words. More details are at the bottom of this post!

For my sketch, I chose one that the talented InStyle Stamps DT member Maria created and has allowed me to use for the TT Sketch! I really should learn how to create my own, but this was soooo much easier!! LOL Thanks Maria!! You ROCK!

For my card, I chose InStyle Stamps Lilah!! The more I use the Anime images, the more I LOVE them!! My 15 yr. old DD really likes them too. I always show her my cards when I am done with them and she always oohs and aahs over the Anime images. If I am unsure of how a card looks, all I do is ask Rachael and I know instantly if it is cute or not. You know how honest 15 yr. olds can be!

I embossed the image using VersaMark, Memento Black and Fine Detail embossing powder then colored with my Copic Markers and paper pieced her outfit and boots. I am still figuring out how to blend with my Copics and I got a little carried away and my coloring blended right outside the lines! LOL Hence why she is cut out and pop dotted. It all ended up working out and I think I like the dimension!

For a little more sketch inspiration, check out Jennie's darling card too!!

Here are the details for the challenge:
1. Make sure your project includes the word “Thank you” in some way.

Finally getting back into the swing of things.....

WHEW!! I have been a busy girl the past week and a half! I am ready to settle back into my routine of doing NOTHING! LOL Unfortunately I don't see that happening anytime soon.....

I finally sat down today and actually played! I did not work on club pages.....although that is fun too! I needed to get my submission for InStyle Stamps in before I get kicked out of the DT!! LOL Seriously.....

I really liked the sketch from Taylored Expressions this last week. Sooo, this is what I based my card off of. Actually, if you go over to the Taylored Expressions blog, you will see a card that is very similar to mine. That is because I liked it so much that I made mine similar to it.

For my card, I used Yuki from InStyle Stamps. I REALLY LOVED working with this image!! I found this super cute paper stack from Basic Grey (GASP, I know it is NOT ctmh!) called urban prairie and used the patterned paper to paper piece the skirt and the top of the outfit on Yuki. I used my Copic markers to color the rest of the image.

I used black brads, black sparkles and Hollyhock buttons with waxy flax for accents. Of course I used the Scalloped Oval and Oval Nestabilities for the main image and my Stampin Up! scalloped punch for the border.

As I was finishing up the card, somehow I managed to smudge black ink onto the oval with the main image. But it is just going to have to stay that way because it would be way to much trouble to re-do it.

I hope that I have inspired, or at least given you a cute sketch to follow! LOL

Thanks for stopping by today!

InStyle Stamps Thankful Thursday Sketch Completed!!

I am finally finished with my card!! I don't believe you have met Marti yet. She was a little more challenging than the others have been so far.....at least for me. After unsucessfully coloring her with my markers, I ended up once again paper piecing her dress. My 14 yrd old daughter thought this would be a great thank you for hospitality....as in Thank You for the great time at your party. Once again this card does not WOW me, so I may be making changes later to see if I can get the WOW factor with this card. It just seems to be missing something...... Maybe you could help me. If you have any suggestions as to what would really make this a WOW card, leave a comment. If you think it is sweet just the way it is......leave a comment! LOL Thanks!!

OK I could not wait......it was bothering me too much!! LOL What do you think of this 2nd version? Any better? I just felt like the first card had too much empty space around Marti.

For this card I stamped Marti 3 times. Once on White Daisy CS, once on the Basic Grey DP and once on Vellum. I cut the dress from the DP and adhered it to the image on the White Daisy. I then cut out, glittered and adhered the vellum to the top of the DP. The clear tag that the Thank You is stamped on is from a container of Jim Holtz idea-ology clear charms. I used my circle nestabilities for the CP on the back of the charm and the CS on the front. For my large circle, I pulled out my OLD Creative Memories Circle and Oval cutting system. Who knew it would still be good for something....LOL!! I just might have to pull it out and use it more!

How about a close up just for fun??

Supplies:
Stamps Marti, InStyle Stamps and Say it in Style
Paper: Basic Grey, Sugared and White Daisy CS ctmh
Embellishments: Garden Green and Colonial White ribbon CTMH, Tim HOltz Fragments charms, prisma glitter ctmh,

Hope I have inspired today! Have fun with the challenge!

Thanks for stopping by and for patiently waiting for me to get my rear in gear and make this card!

Introducing Pam and Buster and Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge

In my search for sketch challenges, I found this awesome blog called Mojo Monday Sketch Blog. The weekly sketch challenge actually started out at Poetic Artistry and was recently moved to it's own blog. Since this is the first Monday of the month, this is a judged sketch challenge contest and the winner of the contest wins their choice of any Verve Stamps set up to $24!! I hope it is ok to post the sketch here......If not please let me know!! Here is the sketch.....

And here is my submission......... My image was larger than I thought it was going to be for this sketch, so i had to improvise a bit with what I was working with. One would think that it would have been easier to just use a different stamp.......but NO I was bound and determined to make Pam and Buster work for this card. LOL

For this card I used the retro Pam and Buster stamp from InStyle Stamps. These little ladies are so fun to paper piece, so I paper pieced Pam's dress and headband and Buster's coat. I colored Pam's hair using my Buttercup ctmh marker (since I don't own any copics YET)and her shoes and lips are Blush marker. Buster is colored with a Desert Sand marker and his nose it Bamboo. The little Baby Pink flowers are Edge Anchors from CTMH that are broken in half. pop dotted and have a sparkle on the top. I am not sure if this in my favorite card I have created lately.....but I thought it was sweet enough. It actually looks better in person. You know when you create that WOW card and you really don't care if anyone else likes it?? Well, this is NOT that card. LOL

Supplies for this card:
Stamps: Pam and Buster InStyle Stamps and Say it in Style CTMH
Inks: Blush, Buttercup, Baby Pink, Bamboo, Desert Sand and Smokey Plum
Paper: Basic Grey, Sugared
Embellishments: Cottage Baby Pink Edge Anchors, Just Blooms ctmh, Baby Pink organdy ribbon, and sparkles from Archiver's
Other supplies: Nestabilities, Stampin' Up! punches

Hope you have found some kind of inspiration today!

Thanks for stopping by!!
