And yet another Mojo Monday Card!!

I love to stamp.  I love to use stamps on my cards and my scrapbook pages.  So to make something with NO stamping is unusual for me!  BUT this morning, I sat down to play along with this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and created a card using ONLY the coordinating complements to Close to my Heart's Georgie papers.  I have to say I LOVE the way it turned out!!

Honestly, I forget about the package of complements that I purchase to go with each paper pack that I purchase through CTMH.  Not sure why exactly.  Maybe it's because I usually have a specific stamp set in mind when I set out to create a card.  OR maybe it's because I put them in a separate place from where I keep my papers.  At any rate, after making this card, I am definitely going to start pulling them out when I choose the papers I am going to use on my card.

The arrows and the Bundle of Joy chipboard are from the complements.  The little heart in the center of the image is from the sticker sheet that also comes in the complements.  To add dimension to the heart, to make it stand out a bit more, I added liquid glass.  Love how it pops it a bit, without taking away from the whole image.  I liked the little arrows on either side of the circle, but thought they were missing something.  SO I added 3 sparkles on each to begin with, but it looked incomplete.  By adding the bitty sparkles to the ends of the arrows, it completed the look I was going for!!  YAY!!

Thanks SO SO much for stopping by!!  If you like what you see on my blog, make sure to check out my Facebook Page Jen's Scrappy Pages to see more art that I don't post to my blog.  I also post specials that Close to my Heart is holding each month.

I hope that this has inspired you to try creating a card using something other than stamping on them!  I'm not going to lie, it is weird at first, like something is missing, but in the end it looks just as good AND takes less time to create!!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Mojo Monday Sketch 439

After going through the cards that I have recently posted on my Facebook Page, I realized that I have been using the same colors/papers on all of my cards.  SO when I started playing with the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week, I decided to switch up the colors and papers and use the Charlotte paper pack from the current CTMH Seasonal Expressions catalog.  When I first saw this paper pack, I fell in love with the soft tones of Slate and Sorbet with having Black as the accent.

After I had the papers chosen and the card mostly put together, I started searching for a stamp set to go with it and found the New Baby stamp set that came out in the Close to my Heart Annual Inspirations book.  I just LOVE the sweet little animals that are in this set!  The elephant was PERFECT for these papers because I could make him gray to match the color scheme!!

Supplies used:
Paper: Charlotte Paper Pack - X7205B - $9.95
Stamps: Baby Zoo - C1620 - $13.95
Embellishments: Black Fundamental Assortment - Z3104 - $9.95
Black and Gold Ribbon - Z3197 - $5.95
Clear Sparkles (for the eye and colored black with a ShinHan marker)

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Hope this inspires you to move out of your comfort zone and try using different color schemes to create your cards!  I LOVE bright and cheery colors, so using these softer tones was a bit out of my comfort zone...

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Mojo Monday 423 and 424!!

Happy Thursday All!!  Thought I would pop in here quick to share my Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge cards from this week AND last!!  I finished BOTH of them this morning and knew that I needed to put them up on the blog while there is still time for #424.  I'm not as good about posting to this blog as I am to my Facebook page...REALLY need to fix that!

Both cards use my FAVORITE paper pack Georgie, which in in the current CTMH Annual Inspirations catalog.  I just love the hues of Canary, Juniper, Champagne and Whisper that the paper pack uses.  Not to mention the little elephants on the paper are ADORABLE!!  LOL

Since I am posting in the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge 424, I will start with that card.

Instead of stamping the sentiment,  I found this super cute "sticker" from the Georgie Complements!!  Talk about EASY PEASY!!  The elephant and stars are also from the Complements.  I added Liquid Glass to the stars to give them a bit more dimension.  The circle is from CTMH's Artiste Cricut cartridge.

This card is the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #423.  I just love how the background paper on this card is soft and each of the patterned papers go so well with one another!  The sentiment is one of Close to my Heart's "M" sized stamps.  PERFECT fit for a 2" circle or square.  The flower is also from the Artiste cartridge.

Supplies Used:
X7203B - Georgie Paper Packet - $9/95
X7203C - Georgie Complements - $9.95
M1054 - Xoxo Stamp - $2.95
Z3089 - Grey Enamel Gems - $3.95
Z2013 - Silver Sequins - $3.95
Z3095 - Whisper Thick Twine - $4.95
Z2173 - Slate Ink - $6.95

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Hope this has inspired you in some way to get creative with your cards/paper crafting projects!!  OR just to get out your stuff and PLAY!!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Freshly Made Sketches 133

Thought I would share my creation using the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches Blog.  I was pretty tickled with the way it turned out!  Although I missed the actual challenge, I still wanted to share!!

Again, I am using the "Free To Be Me" papers from Close to my Heart's National Scrapbooking Month special.  You too can get your hands on this BRIGHT AND CHEERY paper pack starting May 1st through May 31st!!!

I kept this simple, yet sweet as I tend to do MOST of my cards!  LOL  I used Lagoon and Smoothie Baker's Twine from the Paradise Baker's Twine assortment.  LOVE how it adds just a bit of fiber, without taking away from the arrows on the background paper!

Thanks SO SO much for stopping by!!

I hope that this inspires you to play along with the weekly sketch challenges over at Freshly Made Sketches!  I believe a new one is released tomorrow!  Stay tuned for that sketch too!

Happy scrapping and stamping!

Mojo Monday 343 with Sneak Peak of May's special!!

Recently, I have lost my crafting Mojo.  But if I am going to be honest here, I had lost my Mojo in all other areas of life as well.  This winter was a DOOSY on my spirit.  BUT I am FIGHTING to get it back and I think I am WINNING!!  LOL

You know how I LOVE to play along with the Mojo Monday sketch challenges.  SO I am not only posting THIS weeks sketch, but LAST weeks sketch as well!!

How do you feel about "signs" in your life?  I believe that everything happens for a reason and that there are signs along the way that tell me things are going to be ok.  As I am sitting here, typing this out, I realized something.  The name of this SUPER CUTE paper pack that will be making its debut in May is called "Free To Be Me".  How fitting that is for where I am at in my life right now!!  No wonder I am falling in love with the BRIGHT AND CHEERY colors and patterns from this pack!!

Mojo Monday 343

May is National Scrapbooking Month, as most of us scrapbookers/stampers know and Close to my Heart ALWAYS has a GREAT special to go along with the celebration.  This year is NO exception!!  Starting May 1st -May 31st you will be able to purchase this pack for just $5 with a $50 purchase.  Check out my website www.jenbennett.ctmh.com for complete details on what comes in the paper pack and how you can purchase it starting May 1st!

ALSO available starting May 1st is the PERFECT stamp for ALL card occasions!  It is the May SOTM called You've Got a Friend.  The COOLEST part of it all is that when you purchase the "Free to be Me" paper pack, with the qualifying $50 purchase, you also get the SOTM for $5!!  I think it is a deal you CANNOT pass up!!

Mojo Monday 342

This card uses one of CTMH's mini stamps called "Perfect Polka-Dot Day".  I cannot tell you how much I LOVE these little stamps.  For just $2.95 each, they go PERFECTLY with most sized cards and they are SO STINKING CUTE!!  I colored this in with a retired Ruby alcohol marker.  The feathers were fussy cut from the feather paper in the "Free to be Me" paper pack.  They were pretty simple to cut out, otherwise I would not have taken the time to do it!   LOL

Thanks SO much for stopping by today!!

I hope this has inspired you to treat yourself in May to this AWESOME deal that CTMH has for us!!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Embossed Kraft CS Using the Quatrefoil Folder

When I purchased all 5 of Close to my Heart's embossing folders, I had NO idea that I would fall in love with them SO quickly!  Mainly because I had been using other companies embossing folders with my projects for a few years now.

I have gone through phases with embossing over the years as well.  When I first purchased my Cuttlebug and my first few embossing folders, I embossed EVERYTHING!  LOL  Then I tired of the look and forgot about them.  Then I would go online and see the fun cards/projects that people were making with the NEW folders that were coming out.  SO I would buy the new ones and play for a while with them and then forget about them once again!

Then Close to my Heart introduced their 5x7 embossing folders in the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book and I fell in love all over again!  LOL  AND that brings me to my card today...

This card was kept fairly simple, yet it turned out pretty darn sweet!  I LOVE the burlap with the Kraft CS and the Lagoon Baker's Twine adds just the pop of color it needed to bring out the Lagoon CS and Lagoon Patterned paper from Skylark.  The flowers were cut at 2 1/2" and 2" using Close to my Heart's Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.  The "thanks" sentiment was actually cut out from a larger stamp...one of the perks of CTMH's stamp sets!!

ANYHOO...thanks SO much for stopping by!!

I hope that this has inspired you to play with the different embossing folders and paper that you have in your stash!!

Happy Scrapping, Stamping and EMBOSSING!!

Sweet Thank You Card

Today's post is going to be short and sweet!  Well, so is the card!  LOL Last Thursday I had SO much fun staying in my pajamas all day and playing with all of my papers, inks, stamps, embossing folders and embellies.  Much needed therapy, I tell ya!!

One of my favorite size of card to make is the 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 square.  The only problem is it won't fit in a regular sized envelope.  MAYBE I should make it a 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 so it will fit!  Now THAT'S an idea!

There is something about the colors of the Skylark paper pack that I have fallen in love with.  Funny thing is when I first opened the paper pack, I was a bit stumped as to how to work with it because the colors were so similar.  BUT throw in the Kraft CS and the Sweet Leaf and Lagoon colors just come to life.  Add some Burlap Ribbon and it gets even better!

Supplies used for this card are: Kraft, Lagoon, Sweet Leaf and White Daisy CS; A True Thank You; Aqua Dots; Burlap Ribbon; Lagoon Baker's Twine from the Paradise Baker's Twine Assortment; Dots Embossing Folder.  Cocoa, Lagoon and Sweet Leaf Inks were used for distressing.  Sweet Leaf and Lagoon Alcohol Markers were used to color in the sentiment which was stamped in Cocoa Pigment ink.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Hope this has inspired you to stay in your pajamas all day and PLAY with all of your scrapping/stamping goodies!!

Happy Scrapping, Stamping and Embossing!!

Another Week...Another Mojo Monday Sketch!!

This week over at Mojo Monday, the challenge is to create a tall & skinny card using the measurement 3 1/2 x 5 1/2.  I actually REALLY like this size!  It still fits in a regular envelope, yet is a bit smaller and sweeter.  In addition to creating a skinnier card, I put the fold at the TOP of the card instead of on the side.  WHEW this is a LOT of change for me in one week!  LOL

Here is the sketch from the blog...

And here is my version....

For my card, I used the elegant papers from Skylark, sentiment from Holiday Tags and flowers cut from Art Philosophy.  The wooden button is from the Wooden Medley Assortment, Lagoon Baker's Twine is from the Paradise Baker's Twine Assortment and the Sparkle Flourish...well that is from the Sparkle Flourishes (small, I believe).

Lagoon Scalloped Circle is 2 1/2", Large Flower is 2 1/2", Smaller Flower is 2", Kraft Scalloped Circle behind button is .90mm.  The 1" scalloped circle was too large, the 3/4" scalloped circle was too small.  SO I changed my Cricut setting to mm instead of cm so I could get an in between size.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

I hope that this has inspired you to play along this week over at the Mojo Monday Blog!!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!

Score Big with Embossing

The new CTMH embossing folders are THE BOMB!!  If you have not seen them, you should check out the video that Close to my Heart has created showing how to use them.  Did you know that cardstock has a grain?  I had NO clue till I watched this video.  Made a HUGE difference in how I cut and emboss my papers when crafting now.

This month my team swap card needed to be a 3 1/2 x 8, which is a bit out of my comfort zone.  BUT after watching this video, I knew EXACTLY what I was going to do with my card...try out our new embossing folders!!

After creating my swap card above, I decided to create a 2nd one for my team meeting so they could also try out the new embossing folders.  I LOVE how the embossing adds just the right amount of added detail to make these cards simple, yet sweet!

Both Sentiments are from the stamp set "For A Friend" and the colors used on both cards are Kraft, White Daisy, Lagoon and Sweet Leaf and were inspired by the  colors in the Skylark Paper Pack.  Embellishments used are: Twine and Flower Badge Button from the Wooden Medley, wooden flower from the Trinkets assortment, Aqua Dots, Sparkles and Lagoon Twine from the Paradise Baker's Twine.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

I hope this has inspired you to check out Close to my Heart's new embossing folders!!  They really are the BOMB DIGGITY!!  lol

Happy Scrapping, Stamping and Embossing!

Wild About Love and Freshly Made Sketches

Those who know me, know I LOVE LOVE LOVE to distress every single edge of every single scrapbook page, card or paper crafting project that I create.  A project is NOT complete unless there is either ink, sand or edge distressing on it!

SO when I ran across Freshly Made Sketches, I was not sure I wanted to participate in their sketch challenge.  Don't get me wrong, I think that the cards on the blog are BEAUTIFUL with no distressing!  I have even made cards, like the Washi Tape cards with no distressing.  BUT to me, there is something about a distressed edge that completes a project or brings all of the elements of the project together.  It is like sewing a quilt, but not putting a binding on it...got it?  LOL

This sweet little fox from "Wild About Love" is just adorable and I could not wait to get my hands on the set to play with it!!  Because I needed a small sentiment to fit on this card, I could not use the ones that came with this set.  SO I found the word "love" in the Hostess Rewards set "Doodle Signs"...which is a really cute set as well!!

When thinking about which paper pack to pair this sweet little fox with, the NEW papers from "Balloon Ride" immediately came to mind.  The soft browns, tans and blues are the perfect complement to the woodsy feel that I get when I think of foxes.  I stamped the fox in Sorbet which gave her a soft reddish brown tone and accented her eyes with sparkles from the Tan and Brown Sparkle assortment.

The dark brown Glitter Paper that comes in the Brown and Tan Glitter Paper 3 pack enhances the Saddle CS that is included in the "Balloon Ride" paper pack.  It gives it just enough POP without being too much on this card with no distressing.  The scalloped border on the Burlap Ribbon was creating using CTMH's Scallop Border Punch.  I also used it to create the scalloped corner of the image.

Thank you SO much for stopping by!!

I hope that this has inspired you to participate in the Freshly Made Sketch Challenge!!  This was fun for me to go out of my comfort zone and NOT distress anything!!

If you LOVE this little fox, you can earn it for just $5 when you purchase $50 in CTMH products.  PLUS if you order from me now through February 27th, you will be entered in my Online Mystery Hostess Party and have a chance at winning a minimum of $25 in CTMH Hostess Rewards!!  All you need to do is go to www.lovinscrappin.ctmh.com and join the ONLINE MYSTERY HOSTESS PARTY and place an order.  I will notify the lucky winner on the 28th!!

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #327

It has been a while since I have participated in the Mojo Monday Sketch challenge.  SO I thought I would sit down and play along this week.  I forgot how fun it is just to sit down and actually get to "play" with all of my papers, embellishments and stamp sets without having to use specific papers or embellishments.  I REALLY need to do this more often!!

This is the sketch...

This is my version....

The little hearts are from the Trinkets Wooden Shapes.  I sponged Chocolate, Sunset, Lagoon and Buttercup on each one then added Liquid Glass for a little extra shine!

I used the colors and papers from Close to my Heart's Babycakes and the SUPER CUTE giraffe and sentiment are from the Wild Wonders stamp set.  To finish the card, I wrapped it with Chocolate and Sunset Baker's Twine.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

I hope this inspires you to head on over to the Mojo Monday Blog to participate in the sketch this week as well!!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Learn how to use our markers with embossing, coloring in small images, and coloring the stamp itself with the markers then stamping.  I just LOVE how Monica and Christine are SO excited about the new markers!

La Belle Vie...NOT My Favorite Paper Pack??

I know that we all have our own unique style of crafting.  That's what makes this craft fun!  What is your style?  Do you have a specific style that you are drawn to?  My style is more on the whimsical side....

For example, I LOVE the Clementine paper packet...the colors and prints are TOTALLY ME!!  Dakota and Moonlight are 2 of my other favorites in the Autumn/Winter Idea Book.  Clementine and Dakota are more countryish (is that even a word??)  Where Moonlight, even though it is Haloweeney (and yet another made up word!) has a more whimsical feel to it.  These are the types of colors/patterns that I am drawn to....

Which brings me to my post!  It was NOT love at first sight with La Belle Vie with me!!  It did not give me "goosies" when I saw it!  I really could not imagine in my head what I would even create with it...scrapbook pages OR cards.

WELL...the beauty of being a consultant who runs regular scrapbook groups and card classes is that even though I may not be in love with a certain paper packet, I have customers who have different styles than I do....SO I went WAY out of my comfort zone and decided to give La Belle Vie a try for my card class in December.

Each month, my card class creates 2 each of 5 different cards.  How the heck was I going to come up with 1 card let alone 5 using this paper pack that I was not a huge fan of??  I just took it little by little, starting with the paper that I like MOST out of the paper pack....then just went from there!

For this set of cards, I decided I was going to create the cards first, then look for a stamp set that fit the look, shape and feel of each card.  The first 2 cards, I felt, did not need any stamping on the outside of the card.  SO I stamped a Sympathy Sentiment on the inside....my group girls can either leave it blank, use the same stamp OR stamp a different saying inside.

This card and the one above use the "Country Life" stamp set that debuted in the Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book.  I LOVED this set when I first saw it and ordered right away!  Well, that was back in January and I am JUST NOW getting around to using it!  Not that I have not thought about using it, or pulled it out to use on a different card, it just never seemed to speak to me till THESE cards and THIS paper pack!

This last card is my least favorite card of all 5.  I LOVE the flower...the paper and the pattern, just not a big fan of the sentiment....not sure if it fits the style of the card.  SO I may change it before class in December!

Thanks SO much for stopping by today!!

Hope this has inspired you to step out of your personal crafting "style" and try using papers/embellies that don't speak to you.....you never know, they just might speak to your friends, family or customers.

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Moonlight NON Halloween Cards!

Happy FRIDAY all!!!  WOO HOO!!!  The weekend is here, the weekend is here!!!  Everybody's working for the weekend....  well except for me cuz I don't consider what I do as work....sure there are business details that I have to take care of, but for the most part, my "J.O.B" is F.U.N!!!!

I am just excited for the weekend to be here because I have been going NON stop for the past several weeks.  Mind you, the last 2 weekends were spent doing FUN things with my business and my friends, but the days in between the weekends have been spent away from home as well.

My SIL has been fighting stage 4 Leiomyosarcoma cancer for the past 4 years and she is now losing her battle.  SO I have been spending the night 2-3 nights out of the week to give my MIL a MUCH needed break in the evenings, overnight and first thing in the morning.    Between my being out of town and my hubby being out of town AND my spending 2-3 nights during the week at my In-Laws, I have not seen much of my hubby and I am honestly going through some serious snugging by the fire while watching movies withdrawals!  LOL

So, I thought while I was sitting here in my pajamas, soaking in the smell of laundry going and dinner cooking that I would share the cards that my card class will be making this month using Moonlight.  As with Dakota, I thought it would be fun to try something OTHER than Halloween cards with this paper...since my Scrapbook Group Pages are NOTHING BUT HALLOWEEN!!

If I do say so myself, I was PRETTY DARN TICKLED with the way these cards turned out!!  I hope that my card class is just as tickled to create them and send them out to their friends and family!!  I always worry about my cards or scrapbook pages not being cute enough for my group girls!

My club card kit included a Moonlight Paper Packet, Black Tulle, Black & Grey Sparkles and the Haunted Assortment.  Stamp sets that I used are Pun Fun, Bountiful Season, Trinity Alpha, Words of Comfort and 4 My Friend.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!!

I hope that this has inspired you to take a 2nd look at the papers that are themed and turn them into cards/scrapbook pages that are something completely different!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Dakota and Flakey Friends??

I just returned from an AMAZING scrap weekend with my girlfriends!!  I laughed SO much over the past 4 days that I am pretty sure I got a nice ab workout in without really having to work at it!!  We have been planning out this weekend for 6 months and I cannot believe it is already over.  When we first started getting together for our weekend scrap retreats a couple of years ago, we would start on Friday night and go through Sunday noon.  NOW we go from Thursday afternoon till Sunday evening!  This time we even talked about planning a WHOLE WEEK in the summer!  I wonder what will be next....a 10 day cruise??  LOL

ANYHOO...I got a TON done....I worked on my Card Class cards for October and December (November were already completed).  Plus finished my scrapbook pages for my December Scrapbook Group.  After I completed the projects that I NEEDED to get done...my girlfriends INSISTED that I work on my own stuff....SO I started playing with one of my FAVORITE paper packs, Dakota AND one of my favorite new stamp sets "Flakey Friends".

Who knew Dakota and Flakey Friends would be SO STINKING CUTE together???  I LOVE playing with papers and using them for something COMPLETELY different than what they were intended for. I added Crystal Blue to brighten it up a bit and OH MY GOODNESS did I have fun playing with it!

You know....I just realized that I USED to list my embellies and papers at the bottom of each post!  SO I think I will start doing that again!  STARTING TODAY!

Supplies are ALL CTMH and can be found on my website to order!
Paper - Dakota with Crystal Blue CS added
Stamp Set - Flakey Friends
Inks - Staz 0n Black, VersaMark, Black (for distressing) Ruby and Twilight Markers

Bundled Buddies meets Wishes 16 Card Workshop

Hey All!!  Once again it has been a couple of months since I have posted here.  I have been a bit busy with my Meetup.com group and posting my art there.  I would LOVE to have you stop by the site and see what it is all about ... http://www.meetup.com/Scrapping-and-Stamping-with-Jennifer/   Feel free to browse the site and if you like what you see, to join is FREE!!  When you join, you will receive updates on my upcoming crops, workshops and scrapbook groups.

On to my art for today..... I created these cards a couple of weeks ago using the 16 card workshop in Wishes.  You use ONLY 3 sheets of B&T/Cardstock PLUS 16 pre-scored card bases.  I used Close to my Heart's pre-scored cards for my cards.  They come with 50 cards and 50 envelopes for just $14.95!

I absolutely LOVE the Bundled Buddies stamp set!!!  I fell in love with this set the first time I laid eyes on it in the Autumn/Winter Idea Book!  Of course, it only took me 3 months to use it.....lol.  Not sure why I was so afraid of it.  Once I started playing with it though, I just could not STOP!

The embellishments were kept to a minimum on these cards.  I used sparkles from the Clear Sparkles assortment and the Blue and Green Sparkle assortment.  The ribbon used is the Sweet Leaf bulk ribbon and Sweet Leaf ribbon from the Green Ribbon Assortment.  Liquid Glass and Prisma Glitter were used on the trees, hat tops and anything else fuzzy!  SO STINKIN' FUN to use!!

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

I hope that this has inspired you to use that Liquid Applique that you bought but have not used OR to go out and get some to add to your card making stash.  Try adding different glitters to it.....maybe add some colored glitter to the Liquid Applique before you heat it.  Think I will give it a try!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!
