Freshly Made Sketch 259

Happy Sunday ALL!!  It's fixing to be a BEAUTIFUL day here in Omaha!  I am LOVING the cooler weather and the trees changing colors right now.  Not quite ready for snow...but I know it's coming sooner or later!  lol  SO for now, I am soaking in the crisp mornings but warm afternoons, the colors of the leaves on the trees before they all fall off, and the daylight hours before they grow short.

It's been a LONG time since I have played along with the Freshly Made Sketches blog, so thought I would check them out this week to see what the sketch was.  At first, I wasn't so sure I could make this sketch work for what I had planned on using.  I started with cutting my paper too small, and I didn't want to waste what I had cut.  SO I ended up making my card a 3 1/2 x 5 1/2!!  I LOVE this size, as you all know!  In fact, I'm not sure I would have liked this card/sketch any bigger.  It ended up being just PERFECT for the narrow oval I used.

Being new to A Muse Studio, I am still working on my stamp "collection".  It's SO hard because I want them ALL, but I'm not independently wealthy, so I am going to have to take it slower than I would like!  lol  BUT I did get a couple of 1/2 price stamp sets for being promoted to Senior Associate!!  Yay for 1/2 price stuff!  TRYING to be smart about my purchases, I chose 2 NEW stamp sets from the upcoming November collection.

One of the NEW stamp sets is called Oh Snap! and is where this cute little gingerbread man came from.  The set won't be released until November 1st, but I thought I would give you all a sneak peek, because he is just SO CUTE!  lol

The top hat is actually from the October Collection "Turkey Day" die set.  I felt like this little guy was missing something, so I decided he needed a top hat to finish him off.  The die I used was for a Pilgrim's hat, but could easily pass for a top hat by adding a band to it.  I cut a piece of Sugar CS and added glitter to it to make it look like snow.

Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: Oh Snap! (being released on November 1st!!)
Paper: Apple CS, Wasabi CS, Navy CS, Apple Mini Hexagon CS, Sugar CS
Ink: Cocoa
Embellishments: Cherry Buttons, Chocolate Pretty Pearls, Vanilla Twine, Diamond Glitter
Dies: Oh Snap!, Turkey Day, Mini Bow, Tag Your'e It Tag Bundle
You can purchase all items HERE!!

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Hope this has inspired you to play along with the Freshly Made Sketches blog this week!  You still have till tomorrow night to play along!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Trio of Owls

I just can't get enough of these little guys!!  Oh the possibilities using just this one punch with ALL of my different papers and stamp sentiments!!  This card started out as kind of a "love" card by random stamping little hearts from the set Something to Say.  But as I started playing with this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, I found myself using the sweet owl from the Owl Builder punch and my thought process changed.

I dug into my new box of SU! goodies yesterday and grabbed the Large Polka Dot embossing folder to emboss both the Real Red and Whisper White CS.  It's hard to tell from the pic, but it's there I promise!  lol

The owl in the middle sports paper from the Santa & Co. Designer Papers.  The other 2 are sporting paper from the Back to Black Designer Papers, as well as the background that I used for my photo.  I am LOVING this 1/8 inch Real Red Taffeta Ribbon!!!  Gonna be ordering MORE of this ribbon in the different colors!  For sure in the Basic Black as it would have worked as a GREAT accent color at the top.  Of course, no card is complete without a little sparkle!!  Well, maybe not, but I sure like adding them to most of my projects!

Thanks SO SO much for stopping by today!!

I hope that this just inspired you to create something...anything...as soon as you have some free time!  If you don't have any free time, MAKE some free time for YOU!!  You deserve it!!

Happy Stampin' Up!

Freshly Made Sketches 133

Thought I would share my creation using the sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches Blog.  I was pretty tickled with the way it turned out!  Although I missed the actual challenge, I still wanted to share!!

Again, I am using the "Free To Be Me" papers from Close to my Heart's National Scrapbooking Month special.  You too can get your hands on this BRIGHT AND CHEERY paper pack starting May 1st through May 31st!!!

I kept this simple, yet sweet as I tend to do MOST of my cards!  LOL  I used Lagoon and Smoothie Baker's Twine from the Paradise Baker's Twine assortment.  LOVE how it adds just a bit of fiber, without taking away from the arrows on the background paper!

Thanks SO SO much for stopping by!!

I hope that this inspires you to play along with the weekly sketch challenges over at Freshly Made Sketches!  I believe a new one is released tomorrow!  Stay tuned for that sketch too!

Happy scrapping and stamping!

Distressed Version of Wild About Love Card

Because I really liked the way my card turned out that I entered over at Freshly Made Sketches using Balloon Ride papers and the Wild About Love February SOTM, I decided to re-create it by adding different embellishments and distressing the edges of the papers using Saddle Ink.

Putting these 2 cards side by side, I honestly cannot decide which one I like better.  The first card is clean with just a pop of glitter and a few accents.  The second card is all dirty and sparkly and full of different elements from the Brown Glitter Paper behind each of my layers to the birds flying off into the distance...

At first, I was not sure if the Brown Glitter Paper behind each layer was a bit overkill...but the more I looked at it with and without the glitter, I found that I liked the glitter better.  I think that the Burlap Ribbon and Hemp Baker's Twine help bring an earthy element to the glitz of the paper.

Even this sweet little fox ended up with some Saddle Ink around her edges to help her stand out against the Crystal Blue CS used for the image background.  If you look close enough, I took 1 strand of the Baker's Twine and used it for the stem of the flower.  Adding it in addition to the Pink Glitter Gem gave a bit more dimension to the flower that I cut out of Creme Brulee CS and popped up.

The wooden heart on the stump and the birds in the upper right corner are from the Color Ready Trinkets Wooden Shapes.  I colored the heart with Sorbet ink, but left the birds the natural wood so they would bring the natural look of the Burlap Ribbon and Baker's twine to the upper part of the card.  I think it helps bring it all together!

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

I hope that this has inspired you to take a card and challenge yourself to use the same sketch, papers and stamp set but add different elements to see how different they can end up looking!!  This was a SUPER FUN challenge for me...one that I just may end up doing again!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!
