Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #436

Each week I have the best of intentions to sit down and play with the new sketch from Mojo Monday Sketch blog, but I end up not getting around to playing with it.  Yesterday, I finally sat down and pulled out my supplies and played along!!  I LOVE the way it turned out!!  It's SO bright and cheery and just all around makes me happy!

I kept the card fairly simple and clean by using matching ink to distress the edges.  I can't quite seem to get away from adding some color to the edges.  Maybe that's because this was how I was taught.  When I first became a consultant for CTMH, distressing the edges of the paper was the "in" thing to do.  What I love about it, is that it gives dimension to the paper, kind of separates each piece from the other.

I ended up making two cards to go along with the challenge.  Not on purpose, mind you, but because of the extra circles and flowers I cut out trying to get the perfect color combo on the first card.  LOL

This first card is my fav out of the two.  I LOVE how bright and cheery it is with the sunshiny yellow background, but also love the dimension that the embossing folder gives the card.

This second card is still sweet, just felt like it was lacking the dimension that the first card had.  The reason I am sharing it as well, is how I created the center of the flowers on this one.  Close to my Heart sells these really cute embellishment packets called Fundamental Assortments.  In them are a sheet of glitter shapes of various sizes that have an adhesive back.  Because I didn't have any gems to stick on the center of the Silver Sequins that I used, I used the glitter circles instead.

The glitter circles are flat with NO dimension at all, which didn't look right in the center of a semi-flat sequin.  SO I pulled out my trusty Liquid Glass and added a nice dollop on top of each circle.  Once dried, these babies look JUST LIKE a glitter gem!!  LOVE the dimension AND sparkle that they have now!!  Will be doing this from now on when I use the shapes from the Fundamental Assortments!!

Supplies used:
Patterned Paper: Penelope Paper Packet
Cardstock: White Daisy, Pear, Crystal Blue, Pixie and Canary
Stamp Set: Say it All (unfortunately this is retired now, any sentiment would work)
Embellishments: Thistle Fundamental Assortment, Silver Sequins, Liquid Glass, Glacier Fundamental Assortment, Grey Enamel Gems (used the white from the package)
Tools: Art Philosophy Cartridge, Cricut Explore with Design Space

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Hope this has inspired you to get out your Liquid Glass and add some dimension to your not so dimensional items!!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Happy Hippo!!

I know, I know, It's been a LONG time since I have posted to my blog.  I have been mainly posting to my Facebook Page: Jen's Scrappy Pages.  BUT I thought I would take the extra time to go ahead and post here too.

My creative mojo has been lacking as of late.  I've been making cards/pages using Close to my Heart's new Workshops Your Way kits, but haven't sat down to create anything on my own for a while.  SO the other day, I took out my favorite stamp set Safari Ballet and stamped out the hippo to color.  I found the best coloring medium for her was the Watercolor Pencils and a Blending Pen.  It kept her soft and sweet, I think!  lol

I used Kaleidoscope papers along with Playful Puffies and Bitty Sparkles.  It's weird not having any ribbon or twine on this card, but I felt it just didn't need anything else on the card.
