Another Mojo Monday Sketch Card......#183

I am so excited that I have been able to participate in the past 2 Mojo Monday Sketch Challenges!  It gave me an excuse to pull out the new Fanfare Level 2 papers and play with them.  It is pretty sad to me that I purchased these papers clear back in the consultant preview period in January, but have just now pulled them out of the bag to actually use them instead of just drooling over them.  WOW Was that a run-on sentence or what??  LOL

Anyhoo......trying to find a stamp set that would not only work with these papers BUT also had to fit the area that I had to stamp in was quite a challenge for me.  Which reminds me of something that I was talking to my friend Cindy about earlier this morning.........

............When you set out to create a card, what do you start with first?  Do you have a specific stamp set in mind that you want to use?  Do you have a certain paper that you just bought and can't wait to cut into?  OR do you start with a sketch, like a sketch challenge and go from there?

Today, I started with the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge AND the Fanfare Level 2 Paper Pack.  I knew that I wanted to play with the Fanfare papers, but also wanted to try out the new sketch.  But when it came to the stamping......I had NO clue what I wanted to use with it.  Which then created a challenge for me to come up with a set that spoke to me.  As soon as I ran across this set in my boxes, I KNEW it was THE ONE!  It yelled at me......USE ME, USE ME!!  I know you know what I am talking about.  lol

I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on this as I know everyone has a different way of creating that perfect card.......

Supplies used:
Paper: Fanfare Level 2 Paper Pack, Black CS, Sky CS and Pacifica CS
Stamp set: Childhood
Inks: Pacifica, Sky, Cranberry and Black
Embellishments: Cranberry Ribbon, Fanfare Level 2 Assortment
Tools: CTMH 2" Scalloped Circle Punch, SU! 1 3/4 Circle Punch

Thanks SO much for stopping by today!!

I hope that this has inspired you to pull out those papers that you purchased months ago but have not touched since the day you brought them home!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!!

Jen

Love your card it is so sweet for a little boy. Do we still have that set available?

When I sit down I always cut into my paper. I think I do it backwards though, I need to find a sketch first then pick paper, then stamp set and embellishments. Maybe that is my problem, I am going to try doing it in this order next time I sit down ;). Thank you for making me think about it.

Jen, I love the way you used the brad for the train wheel! For me, if I'm doing my little 3x3 thank you's to my customers I'll have a newer paper packet in mind and thumb through one of the CTMH card books for ideas. But if I'm doing a specific card I'll usually start with the sentiment I want to incorporate. Then kinda work backwards with the "feel" of the card to determine which B&T to use. Then finally play around with which embellishments fit the card best.

Thank you for posting your creations, I love stalking blogs for fresh ideas. I hope this has helped you in some way as you do inspire me...

Thanks for sharing how you get started, Gretel! It does help to know how you get creative and inspires me to think outside of MY box and create differently!

I usually don't have a specific card/sentiment that I start with. I just make cards to make them......lol......cards are my way of being able to play with paper and embellishments and not have to create in a 12x12 size.

The cards that I don't send out, get put into customers bags. They LOVE getting one of my hand made cards in their orders! It's a win, win for all of us. I get to "play" with my stuff and they receive something created with love!

Adorable Card! I don't have boys so doing 'boy' things is really a challenge for me!
