CTMH Featured Products Blog Hop - Animal Greetings

Hello and welcome to our CTMH Featured Products Blog Hop. This week our featured product is the Operation Smile Animal Greetings stamp set.  It is featured on the back of the 2015 Annual Inspirations Catalog.  Have you checked it out??  It is SUPER CUTE!!  BUT it is ONLY available till the end of this month.  After that, it will be retired and gone FOREVER!!

If you have just joined us you can start here and continue on, as this is a circular hop or if you get lost along the way you can find the complete list at the end of this post.   If you came here from Annette Clark's Blog Little Crop Shop on the Corner, you are in the right place. Now on to my project:

This was a SUPER FUN sized card to make.  In fact, every time I make this size, I always tell myself that I should do it more often!!  I used a Tall and Skinny sketch from the Mojo Monday Sketch Blog archives.  Think I will make it a goal to go through ALL of the archives and only create the Tall and Skinny sized cards!

ANYHOO.... A little bit about the supplies I used on the card.  The heart paper is from Magical.  I just LOVE how sweet the little hearts are and yet how bright and cheery it is as well.  The stars and piece that the sentiment is stamped on, are from the Magical Complements.  The silver sequins are from the Magical sequins that coordinate with the papers as well.  I used watercolor paints to create the background the sweet little whale is popped up on and also used watercolor for the whale itself.

Thank you for checking out my project. If you would like to purchase our featured product of the week or any additional supplies you can buy them here (post your oba link). If you enjoyed my project please comment below as we love feedback! Next on our blog hop is Corinna Murphy from Corinna's Crafts.  Make sure to check out her amazing work featuring this same product.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!  See you on Wednesday (August 10th) as we will be featuring a Vacation theme!!!

Hope this has inspired you to try out a different card size!!  Try it, you might just like it!!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!

Tickled Pink Flamingos meets Florence

Happy Saturday All!!  Hope you are all getting a GREAT start to the weekend!!  Here in Nebraska it is already fixing to be a BEAUTIFUL day!  The sun is shining with clear skies and the temperature is only supposed to get to about 85.  I'd say that's just about perfect!

Since I promised to be more diligent in posting here, I thought I would share the cards that I created for my August card class.  To be honest with you, I have seen SO many cards/scrapbook pages using these cute little flamingos from the "Tickled Pink" stamp set, that I wasn't sure I even wanted to play with them myself.  BUT I bought both the stamp set AND the thin cuts and didn't want them to not get at least a LITTLE ink on them!  lol  SO I pulled out the set when I started to put my cards together for my class.

MOST of the cards/scrapbook pages I have seen using this set have been paired with the SUPER CUTE papers from Calypso, which really is PERFECT for this set.  BUT I wanted to do something different with them.  After all, flamingos aren't just pink!  They are also coral and all different shades in between.  That was when I realized that the colors from the Florence paper pack would work!!  SCORE!!

The first set of cards that I created using Florence and Tickled Pink were distressed with Slate ink.  Well, because I just love how distressing the edges with ink creates dimension/contrast between the different papers.  While making the second set, to use for display at my card class, I opted to leave off the distressing and I have to tell you, I prefer the "clean" look with this kit!!  WHAT??  Say it isn't so!!

I just love how simple the cards are, yet with the bright colors from Florence and those dang cute flamingos, they are just happy to look at!

If you are not aware, the papers, stamp set, thin cuts, twine and sequins will be retiring at the end of August!  SO if you like the look of the cards, you might want to get yourself some or all of the above products before they are gone FOREVER!!

Bad Blogger, Bad Blogger!

I know, I know, I am such a BAD blogger!!  I don't know why it feels SO much harder to post here, than it does to my Facebook Page??!!  Maybe that's because I can post directly from my phone to my Facebook page and when I post here, I have to actually turn my computer on, sign into my blog, upload my photos from my phone and edit them, ALL before being able to post here.  I am SO SO lazy!!  LOL

SO here's the deal.  I am going to make MORE of an effort to come on here at LEAST once a week to check in and let you all know that I AM still papercrafting.  NO more excuses for this girl!!  Having said that, make sure you still go to my Facebook Page Jen's Scrappy Pages to check out the stuff that I post there that doesn't make it on my blog.

I had SO much fun playing along with this week's sketch over at the Mojo Monday Sketch blog!!  I even pulled out my Kaleidoscope paper pack to use, well, because it is retiring at the end of the month and I need to make room for the AMAZING NEW products that are coming out August 1st!!  OH MY GOODNESS!!!  I am SO extremely pumped about the new Annual Inspirations catalog, I can hardly contain myself!!  OOPS....got off track a bit.

Back to the card.  The flowers I used are from the retiring (July 31st) CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge.  I painted them using Close to my Heart's watercolor paints and edged them with Pixie and Canary Inks to give them added dimension.  The sentiment is from the soon to be retiring (August 31st) Hello Sunshine.

Make sure to click on the up close photo of the flowers.  I used 2 different techniques and it is hard to really see it in the photos unless you zoom in on them.  For the pink flower, I used the plastic wrap technique where you paint on the watercolor paper and put plastic wrap on top till it is either almost dry or completely dry.  It give it a pretty cool texture.  The yellow flower kind of has a "brushed" look to it.  I used a drier brush to apply the paint, then went over it with the top edge of the brush to purposefully leave brush marks in the paint.  After both flowers were completely dry, I sponged on a coordinating ink to give it more dimension.

That's about it for today!!  I PROMISE I will be back in a few days to share more stuff with ya!!  Again, make sure to "like" my Facebook Page if you would like to be notified when I add stuff there too!!

OH one more thing... Have you seen the consultant sign up special for the month of July???  It is SO SO STINKING AWESOME!!  If I wasn't already a consultant for this AMAZING company, I would TOTALLY join!!  LOL  Please see ALL the details for this offer here...

Want a sneak peek of the NEW, not yet released products??  Join CTMH this month and you will get your choice of one of the Fundamental Bundles featured in the Early Bird Sign-Up Special!!

Thanks SO VERY much for stopping by!!

Hope this inspired you to get out your watercolor paints and give these techniques a try!!  I have had SO much fun playing with paint lately...who knew it could be this fun!!??

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!
