And yet another Mojo Monday Card!!

I love to stamp.  I love to use stamps on my cards and my scrapbook pages.  So to make something with NO stamping is unusual for me!  BUT this morning, I sat down to play along with this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge and created a card using ONLY the coordinating complements to Close to my Heart's Georgie papers.  I have to say I LOVE the way it turned out!!

Honestly, I forget about the package of complements that I purchase to go with each paper pack that I purchase through CTMH.  Not sure why exactly.  Maybe it's because I usually have a specific stamp set in mind when I set out to create a card.  OR maybe it's because I put them in a separate place from where I keep my papers.  At any rate, after making this card, I am definitely going to start pulling them out when I choose the papers I am going to use on my card.

The arrows and the Bundle of Joy chipboard are from the complements.  The little heart in the center of the image is from the sticker sheet that also comes in the complements.  To add dimension to the heart, to make it stand out a bit more, I added liquid glass.  Love how it pops it a bit, without taking away from the whole image.  I liked the little arrows on either side of the circle, but thought they were missing something.  SO I added 3 sparkles on each to begin with, but it looked incomplete.  By adding the bitty sparkles to the ends of the arrows, it completed the look I was going for!!  YAY!!

Thanks SO SO much for stopping by!!  If you like what you see on my blog, make sure to check out my Facebook Page Jen's Scrappy Pages to see more art that I don't post to my blog.  I also post specials that Close to my Heart is holding each month.

I hope that this has inspired you to try creating a card using something other than stamping on them!  I'm not going to lie, it is weird at first, like something is missing, but in the end it looks just as good AND takes less time to create!!

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Wildlife Photography

SO my partner in crime Michael Cerizo and I have discovered the wonderful world of birding!  YUP!!  I am officially old!  LOL There is something about the thrill of the chase in finding the different species of birds in our local area.  Who knew there were SO many different varieties of birds that live and migrate through Nebraska!!  Eventually, we would love to search for others as we travel, but that would require leaving the state!  LOL

I thought I would share some of the AMAZING shots that Michael has been able to capture on our excursions in and around the surrounding area.  I have to say that by far my favorite bird is the Pelican.  I don't know what it is about these guys that I love so much...maybe it is because they are quirky, kind of like me.  SO I will start with my favorite shot of them.

I love how the Pelican's are all lined up as they take off to their next destination.  Apparently the one on the far left of the photo did not get the message to spread his wings out all the way.  There is always odd bird in the bunch!

Isn't this little Bluebird the sweetest thing you have seen all day?  He is just a little ball of cuteness!

Locating this owl was such a fun adventure for us out in the woods!  After scaring him off a couple of times, we located him and Michael was able to capture some phenomenal shots!  Looks like he is staring right through our souls!  It was breathtaking in the moment!

Michael has these photos, plus more on his website!!  You can check them all out HERE!  PLUS if any of them strike your fancy, you can purchase them to enjoy in your own home!

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Hope this has inspired you take a second look at the local birds in your area.  There is a beauty and grace in them that can go unnoticed if you are not paying attention to them.

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!

Mojo Monday Sketch 439

After going through the cards that I have recently posted on my Facebook Page, I realized that I have been using the same colors/papers on all of my cards.  SO when I started playing with the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card for this week, I decided to switch up the colors and papers and use the Charlotte paper pack from the current CTMH Seasonal Expressions catalog.  When I first saw this paper pack, I fell in love with the soft tones of Slate and Sorbet with having Black as the accent.

After I had the papers chosen and the card mostly put together, I started searching for a stamp set to go with it and found the New Baby stamp set that came out in the Close to my Heart Annual Inspirations book.  I just LOVE the sweet little animals that are in this set!  The elephant was PERFECT for these papers because I could make him gray to match the color scheme!!

Supplies used:
Paper: Charlotte Paper Pack - X7205B - $9.95
Stamps: Baby Zoo - C1620 - $13.95
Embellishments: Black Fundamental Assortment - Z3104 - $9.95
Black and Gold Ribbon - Z3197 - $5.95
Clear Sparkles (for the eye and colored black with a ShinHan marker)

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Hope this inspires you to move out of your comfort zone and try using different color schemes to create your cards!  I LOVE bright and cheery colors, so using these softer tones was a bit out of my comfort zone...

Happy Scrapping and Stamping!!

Another Mojo Monday...Finished on Wednesday!

I find that when I play along with the weekly Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge, I kind of force myself to get out my comfort zone and make myself create something.  Maybe it is because the sketch gives me a starting point, something that I can look at and see what stamp set would work with the LO of the card.  Maybe it's because I tend to go back to sketch's that I am familiar with, but then become bored with if I have used them too many times.  I don't know.  But what I DO know, is it helps me to start creating...

The stamp set I chose is Close to my Heart's Stamp of the Month "Sunshine Birdies".  I just LOVE the sweet little birdies in this set, not to mention the sayings that come with it are cheery!!  Although, I did not have enough room on this card to use the sentiments that came with the set.  I had to borrow the "thank you" from a set that had tiny sentiments that would fit in the space I had available.

Lately, I am finding that I am liking the crispness of using just cardstock along with an embossing folder for dimension.  The flowers are the only thing on this card that I used Patterned paper for.  I used Watercolor Pencil with a Blending Pen to color the birdie in.  After I colored him in, I used Canary Ink to darken him up a it around the edges as I found him to be a bit lighter than what I was going for when I colored him in.

ANYHOO....All Supplies used are Close to my Heart
Paper: Crystal Blue, Pear and White Daisy CS, and Penelope papers.
Stamp sets: Sunshine Birdies, Pretty Petals (sentiment)
Inks: Crystal Blue, Pear, Thistle and Canary
Embellishments: Kaleidoscope Assortment
Tools: Watercolor Pencils, Blending pen, Artistry Cricut cartridge for the flowers.

Thanks SO much for stopping by!!

Hope this has inspired you to play along with this week's Mojo Monday Challenge!!
